The Texas City Police Department has once again earned accreditation by the Texas Police Chiefs Association. TCPD was the first law enforcement agency in Texas to ever earn this distinction and is also now the first to earn accreditation for a historic fifth time.

The department was recognized by the Texas Police Chiefs Association for meeting or exceeding all standards and achieving compliance with Texas law enforcement best business practices.

In 2006, Texas Police Chiefs Association developed an accreditation program for law enforcement. The program has 173 challenging standards that address a full range of operations.

It is a voluntary program that is considered the gold standard for law enforcement in the state of Texas.

There are more than 2800 law enforcement agencies in Texas; only 193 are accredited by the Texas Police Chiefs Association. The Texas City Police Department has once again earned this accreditation.

As he presented the award to TCPD Asst. Chief Landis Cravens, Webster Police Chief Pete Bacon stated, "This accreditation means your agency in one of the very best in the state of Texas."
