2nd Texas City State Football Title
Two years after their first state championship, the Texas City Stingarees won a second state title. The team's offense was led by captain and running back Frank Gorom, while the defensive lineup included nose tackle Marcel Moses, defensive back Chad Clay and linebacker Marcus Diaz (Stingaree, 2000).
Undefeated Season
In addition to being their second year to win a state championship, 1999 was also the Stingaree football team's first undefeated season. One highlight of the season was the opportunity to play a regional final game in Houston's Astrodome before a large crowd of supporters. For the state title, the Stings played the Hereford White Faces in Dallas' Texas Stadium, winning 27-14 (Stingaree, 2000).
