Great Depression
In the early part of the 1930s, Texas City, like most of the United States, is still struggling with the Great Depression. By 1938, the depression has lifted. Union Carbide & Chemical Co. begins. Two new elementary schools, Danforth and Heights, are built.
Population
In 1940 the population of Texas City was 5,748 people.
